People Power!

People Power: Does It Work?

Little other than People Power does work.

Anthropologist Margaret Mead said it well: "A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." (emphasis added)

Consider Step it Up!, 2007 and view people in motion from Vermont to Battery Park demonstration.

"We asked the question: Who's a Leader? On November 3, we found out the answer: YOU ARE! You organized hundreds and hundreds of rallies in all 50 states and sent over 14,000 invitations to politicians to join you and offer their plan to stop global warming. And together, we united under 1Sky - the solutions that science and justice demand. We are the leaders we have been waiting for - and our movement has just begun."

Al Gore launched the grass roots "We" campaign.

Listen to NPR broadcast or listen to Gore interview on 60 Minutes.

Consider this: Probably half the human race considers the Earth to be a living entity: Gaia.

This belief in Gaia, the Greek mythological goddess of the Earth, is actually the basis of the Gaia hypothesis by James Lovelock. Judge for yourself. With so many enraptured on-lookers, the sheer spread of democracy will inspire spontaneous Gaia-preservation efforts.
