World Sustainability To Do

WSY Home | log | status

Mission: Build init version of WSY web site for ENST209, prototype of book, and as stand-alone. Goal: Stand-alone web site for summer 2010 ENST209 offering.

Class Flow

Notes in class, 12/7/2009:

Work in Progress

  1. Gather resources for WSY 0.1. Start w GC and run through for PP.
  2. Working on these pages: mission, GC home, themes, population, peak oil, log. Add bibliography.
  3. Mimic WW in mmap from html.
  4. Gather resources from bookmarks (Chrome, Firefox) and mmaps.
  5. CSS: failure of address is failure to understand CSS
  6. Build a strategic global crisis policy agenda WSY for ENST207: Rebuild my notes on Brown (3 & 4) and assemble as support for GC. Compile disabling analysis and global crisis along the lines of the enabling analysis. Stress paradigms over Brown empiricism, which goes on external web site. Add explanatory text based on my research.

Tasks ahead:

  1. Build site and WSY home pages as style in CSS book.
  2. Do quick RAD for total book. Work with maps, links, bookmarks. Can RAD ==> book format?
  3. Gather enabling analysis from maps. Threefolding and double movement need work for enabling analysis.

Technical Improvements

Must design a World Sustainability Web Site. Must think through web presence. Simply not good enough, does not compare with an exemplary web site such as Global Issues. My style and presentation is text-based, link-intensive, substantive but not fancy html, ala Jakob Neilson. Needs graphics and CSS.

Book Project and Zines

This web site serves to develop and display prototype of book. ENST209 benefits directly. Track this relationship here:

  1. four legacy essays
  2. Init 11/8/2009 ontology of World Sustainability needs h2, otl, and TN. Add W>E essay for global crisis via ftp. Consolidate da into gc.
  3. Philosophy fits project but has no home in book. Where might it belong as a webzine stand-alone publication?
  4. W > E; overshoot, etc.
  5. Stand alone e-zines? Discover targets, such as Mike Davis: Googol zine for sustainability ed, Alternatives Journal, AlterNet,New Perspectives Quarterly, ezine directory.
